Business liars

The class about touristic destinations with professor Oriol Miralbell was very interesting. In very inovation and interactive way he tried to aproach to us what is the meaning of most important subjects about touristic destinations. Considering our previous educations which are very diferent from sudent to student, aproaching such a delicate thing it’s not an easy job.

To provoke our attention he used some facts from his profesional expirience to involve us in discusion. He sad that being into tourism means being a liar. Some of us have a conscience about it, some of us don’t. That made very odd atmosphere, but in the same time very intresting. Afterwards he explaind to us more precisely what he wanted to say. People who work in tourism, in one way or in another, are trying to sell some non permanent things. Like destination for exemple. Or sunset. Or tropical heat. These things are our products, are what we sell and they are constantly changing so, like it or not, as time goes by we’re converting into liars.

At the end, telling so shocking thing at the begginig of student’s career is of great importance for us. Being good at job you work, means being a player. In a bussines world that’s not lying, it is speaking negotiable language. In an artistic world that’s not lying, it is speaking an arteficial language. So, we have to choose our point of view and form our own attitude, and aim our vocation to a field where we can advance.
